Bûche De Noël- Yule Log Cake

Bûche De Noël- Yule Log Cake

Bûche De Noël,  Yule Log Cake is a classic French holiday tradition. What a joy it has been creating my version and recipe for this lovely Christmas treat.

The cake is meant to resemble the Yule log; a tradition that dates back thousands of years.  Vikings gathered a very large log, that would be dragged home by ox, to be burned beginning on December 21st, the winter solstice and the shortest day of the year.  The log would be burned for 12 days in celebration of the upcoming growing season.  This tradition was to meant to cement health and prosperity for the coming year.

As modern society evolved the confection, resembling this yule tradition emerged and has continued to part of the family celebrations in northern Europe including France.
