I am excited to share a fun DIY (do it yourself) door Stop project with you guys today.
Many years ago, a sweet friend of mine shared this idea with me and since then, I have replaced most of the door stops in my home.
This project is so fast and easy, it’s really rewarding!
To get started, select a drapery finial that you like. Finials are available where they sell drapery rods and fabrics or at Bed Bath and Beyond!
Maybe the finial is ready to go with the colors you want. The selection was limited when I was doing this project so I just bought black finials and prepared to paint them.
Many years ago, when my friend was making these, she painted them to match the colors of her rooms, they were so cute and interesting, think MacKenzie Child’s.
For my interior, gold is what I wanted.
I started by painting the entire surface of each finial with Craft Smart, premium guiding paint in Classic Gold.
The surface was too flat so to add a bit of dimension, I rubbed on Rub ‘n Buff in both Gold Leaf and Antique Gold. This gave the surface a bit more interest.
Next, I wanted to add a little sparkle to the door stops so I glued a clear Swarovski crystal to the end of each finial.
Next, I simply removed the door stop,
and the washer that was holding it in place and screwed the finial right into the wall.
This DYI was that easy!
Don’t you love a DIY project? I know I do and especially one that is as easy as this!
I’d love for you to share your simple DIY projects with me here, so everyone can join the conversation.
