Bouquet of Roses Apple Tart Recipe

Bouquet of Roses Apple Tart recipe is as scrumptious as it is beautiful.  This lovely dessert will bring exclamations of joy to those at your table and truth, it’s fun to make!

We are officially in apple season through late November so in the coming weeks I will be sharing some of my all-time favorite apple recipes and we will also take a peek back at a few tried and true darlings for your fall tables.

Scrumptious Bouquet of Roses Apple Tart Recipe

In supermarkets we can get apples year-round, a super convenience, but when you want to maximize flavor and juiciness; eating seasonally is the way to go.

To make this beautiful tart, prepare the crust by rolling puff pastry to eliminate creases, press it into a 9-inch tart pan.  I prefer a tart pan over a pie dish because it forces the apple slices to be upright, making it easier to create the tight leaf look you see in my photos.

If you only a have a pie plate, that is OK, you may need a few more apple slices to fill it. Just start at the edge and wind the apple slices very snuggly round the tart, overlapping slightly until you are near the center.  Coil several apple slices to create the center and bake!

Stunning fall favorite, Bouquet of Roses Apple Tart Recipe

Bouquet of Roses Apple Tart

1 sheet of puff pastry

4 Honeycrisp apples

1 tablespoon flour plus more for work surface

¼ cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar, divided

3 tablespoons butter

¼ cup apricot jam

1 teaspoon water

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.  Roll the puff pastry out to eliminate the creases and so it will fit into a 9-inch tart pan. Spray your 9-inch pan with non-stick cooking spray and place the pastry into the pan, press it firmly up the sides and into the bottom. Trim the excess pastry from the top of the pan.  Prick the bottom of the pastry well with a fork.  Line the pastry with a sheet of greased foil and add pastry weights or dried beans to the top.  Bake the crust for 12 minutes until it is beginning to brown.  Remove from the oven and reduce heat to 375 degrees.  Prepare apples by slicing the apple off the core in thick shards, next place each shard on a cutting board and cut into very thin slices.  If you have a mandolin this is a good time to use it.  Sprinkle the bottom of the crust with flour then ¼ cup sugar and begin arranging the apples on the out edge.  Place apples cut side down making rows, leaving the peel pointing up, this will look slightly pink on the finished tart.  Continue arranging apples very tightly working towards the center.  Roll some thin slices into a coil to form the center.  Sprinkle the tart with remaining sugar and dot with butter.  Place pan on a baking sheet and into the oven for 30-40 minutes until apples are tender and browning on the tops.  Prepare the glaze by mixing the jam with the water.  Glaze the tart using a pastry brush as soon as you remove it from the oven.  Let tart cool 10 minutes before slicing to serve.

Bouquet of Roses Apple Tart will take a bit of finesse so if you prefer something much easier, you could always flash back to my super Simple Apple Tart, it is a classic and can literally be ready for the oven in 10 minutes!
