Papers from the fall ATOP event

Each quarter A Taste of Paris presents a French Inspired event.

Megan Preston and ME!

In the fall, just days before Thanksgiving, I hosted Preston and Megan from Chateau Pommard.  They came all the way from Burgundy, France to my home in McKinney Texas for an amazing 2-nights filled with superb wine and sumptuous bites!

With the craziness of the holiday season, I never posted the pretty pictures from this spectacular event.

As I am putting the finishing touches on the A Taste of Paris winter event, It’s Valentines Day- An Enchanting French Experience (this one is for ladies only; think Galen-tine’s) and I’ve been enjoying reminiscing about all of that amazing wine and the fun we all had.

bottles of wine

We tasted and learned about 6 wines from the prestigious Burgundy region along with paired bites for each wine from my kitchen!

Apple shallot tarte tatin

This is Apple Shallot Tarte Tatin with arugula and walnuts and let me tell you, it made the taste-buds sing!

Beef Wellington Hand-Pies

This was my favorite bite of the night, Beef Wellington Hand-Pies!

Cheese board with apples and wine

Boards with perfectly paired cheeses, crostini and nuts, fruit and olives were served with each wine, so there was plenty of noshing!

Stay tuned for instructions on how to make beautiful grazing boards in the coming months!

Toulouse_ Legacy West- Plano

It’s Valentine’s Day- An Enchanting French Experience is a French inspired event.  The day starts with 3 sessions focusing on beauty and pleasure.  French people are pleasure seekers, this passion prone quality stems from their Latin roots. This is one of the many mysterious qualities that makes French women so alluring and for the day we will act as they do!

3 sessions designed to unlock the mystery of chic French women

Beginning of course with chocolate!  You will hear from a passionate chocolate maker that hand-crafts the very finest ganache and fillings and finishes them in the elegant French style…the best part?  Tasting!

Flowers Flowers Flowers

I was deeply inspired by the simple floral arrangements in the Provencal villa where I stayed this past September that I thought this was the ideal chance to share these ideas with you.  You will see a gorgeous arrangement made by an expert in the field, right before your eyes.  I think you will be inspired too!

Christian Dior– Savoir Faire-

French women just seem to have that special something, that je ne sais quoi.  The regional director of Dior Beauty and his team, will present Savoir Faire, an interactive experience designed to unlock the mystery of the alluring French women, Christian Dior the man and this iconic brand.

Red or White?

Wine Burgundy

Do you prefer red or white wine? I know when its hot outside many people drink lighter wines.

I simply prefer reds, the darker, thicker and richer they are the better!  The truth is, I have not always been a wine drinker.  In fact, I never drank wine other than sparkling’s, until about 16 years ago.

4 champagne glasses

I was invited to a big birthday party for a friend, I won’t tell you what number we were celebrating because I reserve the right to keep mine and my friends ages a secret!

French wine and cheese 2

The menu for the birthday dinner was set.  The choices were beef or salmon.  I never order salmon, since I am lucky enough to have a freezer full at all times due to my husband’s annual Alaskan fishing trip.  And the drink choices were red or white wine; naturally I selected the beef filet and my first ever, glass of red wine.

The label was Dynamite Cabernet and there was definitely a flavor explosion happening in my mouth. I never looked back and have been an avid red wine lover ever since.

I discovered rosé wine in a similar way.  About 4 years ago when I was researching for my first ATOP group trip to Provence.  I was sitting at a seaside cafe eating mussels and frites with my sweet friend Donna who happens to live in Australia.  She suggested that we order wine with lunch…OK why not!  After that first glass of French rosé I totally understood the phrase Rosé all Day!

I have not had that same light-bulb experience with white wines but I am hopeful!

Wine on boat

Tell me, are you a red or white wine drinker and if white is your jam, what label?  Maybe I will give it a try and be converted before summers end.

au revoir for now lorie (002)
