Holiday Appetizers Crab Dip

It’s been a fun few weeks of posting some of the best appetizers from this year’s cooking season. I’ve posted Cranberry Pecan Gouda Truffles, Beef Stuffed Cocktail Peppers, Mediterranean Hummus, and now for my final fourth mouthwatering appetizer, Crab dip!

This sensational appetizer will delight your friends and family with creamy goodness. But before we dive into this one, I have one last party planning tip. When you create your party menu, always consider variety. For example, if all of your appetizers are made of cheese, something I could easily do because no one loves cheese more than me, it can be boring for guests. Keep the menu lively with an assortment of ingredients and your guests will clean their cocktail plates. Keep reading for the party planning recap.

My Crab Dip is so simple to make; start with cream cheese, sour cream, and a little bit of mayonnaise, add seasoning to this, and mix very well. Next, gently stir the lump crab into the base being careful to keep the lumps in tack. Pour into a baking dish, sprinkle with bread crumbs and bake until bubbly and golden brown.

This recipe makes a substantial portion so it can easily be cut in half, or do what I do, make the recipe and split it into two small baking dishes. Place one in the freezer for next time and cook one today, for family and friends.

I like to serve this amazing concoction with crispy flat bread or water crackers.

Cream Cheese Crab Dip

8 ounces cream cheese

½ cup Mayonnaise

½ cup sour cream

¼ cup parmesan cheese

½ garlic clove pressed

1 tablespoon grated onion

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

2 8 ounce containers pasteurized lump crab meat

¼ cup panko bread crumbs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Mix together first 7 ingredients until well blended.  Add crab meat and toss gently, spoon into buttered glass baking dish and top with bread crumbs.  Cook for about 20 minutes until center is bubbling and topping is lightly browned serve with flat bread or crackers.

Party Planning Recap

-Consider guests comfort and opt for only finger foods that are not too drippy.

-Choose some foods that are colorful to pop your party buffet.

-Be sure your dishes offer a variety of food types and textures to keep things interesting.

Made crab dip a few months ago. Not your recipe. It was awful. Not something I would want to share.
