Garden Lanterns

As promised, I’m showing you how to make one of my favorite garden projects; creating planters out of candle lanterns.

I’ve spent many hours in the garden this season; it’s been wonderful to reconnect with nature, to get my hands and feet in the soil and to see the fruits of my labor grow and blossom.

I love whimsical, charming element to plantings; anything that brings a smile to the face is good and these sweet lanterns do just that.

To make a garden lantern, you will need:

-A lantern with an open top

-A Sheppard’s hook

-1-3 very small plants

-Potting soil

To get started, add a bit of soil to the bottom of the lantern. Place 1-3 small pants into the lantern and fill in with more soil.  Give the plants a little water and hang the lantern on the Shepherd’s hook.  It is that simple!

You can see some of mine are getting a bit old and rusted but that just adds to their charm!
