Joy Seeker

2019 is finally here and we have a fresh start.  2018 was a good year and probably like many of you, I worked too much.  The arrival of January offers us an opportunity to reflect on the past year and to think about what we would like to create for the new one.

As I worked through this exercise, one word kept coming to mind, JOY!

I have resolved to be a joy seeker in 2019. Finding joy in great accomplishments is easy but as we get wrapped up in mounds of work and commitments it can be a bit more of a challenge to be joyful about the little things.

To keep myself focused, I made a list of the things that make my heart happy and I will spend some time each day doing, being or having some of these things.

What brings your heart Joy?  Will you share?

  1. My word for the year is FAVOR. I pray for it everyday…and I’ve already seen so much of it everywhere: front row parking, $20 turning up in the bottom of my purse, healthy kids, and only one small headache while detoxing from sugar!! Yay! As far as what gives me joy it would be sunshine, dates with my hubs trying new restaurants, when the kids get along, Sunday brunch after church, and editing photographs. Happy New Year, Lorie!

    1. Lauren sounds like you are off to a wonderful start!! Favor is a great thing to focus on, that resonates with me too!! Xoxo

  2. I love this! I am going to resolve to be a “joy seeker”, too. It felt like the holidays came and went and I didn’t take time to enjoy. It’s so important for us to take the time to really focus on all that we have to be grateful for and allow ourselves to truly enjoy. Thank you for the gentle reminder. I’m off to seek some joy! 🙂

    1. That’s true Vonda, all of the hustle and bustle of the season can make enjoying it hard for the doers among us. Lets seek some joy together in 2019!!

  3. I have chosen two meaningful words this year, Focus and Whimsy. While one keeps me grounded and intent, the other reminds me to live a life of fun, spirited JOY (your word). Here’s to a bountiful year of JOY Lorie!

    1. Monica,
That is wonderful! I wish you a year of Focus and Whimsy!

  4. Lovely! Thank you for sharing, wishing you a wonderful 2019!

  5. Agree. This is a great refocus and reminder for 2019. Things that bring me joy: time in prayer, gardening, reading a good novel, date nights, being productive, white chocolate mocha, coffee with friends, being with my kids, time alone.
