Lunch with Paris Breakfast!
I can’t wait for you to meet one of my favorite contemporary Parisian artists, Carol Gillott of Paris Breakfast. I adore her colorful, charming, watercolors that depict everyday life in Paris. Carol is a former New Yorker who lives on Île Saint-Louis in Paris and I’m excited to tell you about our lunch together and to share a little bit about her business.
One of my favorite things about traveling with groups to France is planning “extra treats” for my travelers.
I’ve admired Carol’s work for years and so I took a chance and reached out to see if she would be willing to hand carry sweet gifts for my group. She was game so, I invited her to rendezvous with us for lunch near Luxembourg Gardens and she graciously agreed.
Choosing a piece of artwork for my guests, proved to be very difficult but I finally settled on the Chocolate map of Paris. On my ATOP trips, I take my groups on a walking tour of my favorite chocolatiers so I thought this one was perfect!
Carol made the packages look so adorable, everyone was delighted by the whimsical gift.
Carol confessed that it was a joy to see the Paris Breakfast envelops opened. Normally, the artwork is mailed from Paris and she never sees the recipient open the sweet treasure.
Carol shows and sells her work on Etsy where you can order one design, a whole stack of artwork, or subscribe to her Paris Letters. When you subscribe, you receive a piece of artwork in the mail every month straight from Paris. How FUN!!
Carol has a blog, also called Paris Breakfast, you can read the post she made after meeting my group in April! You can also find Carol on Instagram where you can see her process as the work comes to life!
That’s how our lunch with Paris Breakfast went, what fun we had!!
